Andre,
The instructors at the Advanced Driver Training school that I
went to, would probably beat you over the head with a gearbox! It sounds
like you are using the engine for braking, instead of using the brakes. WHY?
As Bob Hall says, gears are for GO, brakes are for SLOW, engine braking is
valid on the track, all you are doing on the road, is accelerating the wear
rate of your gearbox parts.
